SPSS Tutorial #4
I have ten years of experience using IBM SPSS (a computer program used for statistical analysis), professionally and academically. The tutorials and resources online can be dated and difficult to follow. I have compiled some quick and easy tutorials to help anyone using this software currently. I am using version 19. Please let me know if you have any questions.
For my survey data, I needed to know how many international students versus domestic students answered two specific questions. I used Crosstabs to answer this. At the top, go to Analyze, then Descriptive Statistics, then Crosstabs. See below.

Two windows will pop up. You need to scroll down the questions on the left side. For row, I chose the question of whether they were an international or domestic student. For column, I chose the question I wanted to see them answer. Click on Statistics and check Chi-square before hitting OK.

For my data, yes meant they were an international student and no meant they were a domestic student. From the Crosstabs data set below I can see that 102 international students and 143 domestic students currently have a specific health/medical concern.

For my data, yes meant they were an international student and no meant they were a domestic student. From the Crosstabs dataset below I can see that 120 international students and 154 domestic students currently have visited the student health center in the past.
